Tera Wozniak Stortz

Tera Wozniak Stortz (she/her) knows what it feels like to search for a community that understands you and come up empty. After decades of living a heteronormative life that looked right on the outside, Tera leaned out, got divorced, and began building something queerer, truer, and more her own. In the process she discovered the transformative power of finding other people who had walked a similar path, especially those who had come out later in life, and who understood the particular grief, relief, and complexity of queer divorce.

That discovery became the Queer Divorce Club.

Tera founded QDC because the support systems that exist for people going through divorce were built for someone else. They didn't account for chosen family, for coming out in the middle of a marriage, for the ache of losing a community that came with a partnership, or for the specific joy and disorientation of building a queerer life from scratch. She wanted a space where none of that needed to be explained. So she built one.

Today Tera is a queer writer, coach, and peer facilitation leader running QDC and leading peer coaching circles for people who are ready to build lives that actually fit. She holds a Master of Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University, is an Intercultural Development Inventory Qualified Administrator, a certified Authenticity Circle Coach, and a professionally trained facilitator through Delta Strategies. Her career spans nonprofit leadership, higher education, civic engagement, and organizational consulting, with deep roots in equity, inclusion, and community building.

She lives in West Michigan with her partner Carlie, their three boys, two cats, and two bunnies. Her family loves outdoor adventures, bonfires, hide and seek, and occasionally raising monarch butterflies in their bathroom.
